On Sunday evening Mom planned a surprise "40 days before his 40th birthday" party for Dad, for adults (it was held at a restaurant). So all of us kids went to our friends, the Seibels, for the evening. Mr. & Mrs. Seibel were at the party too, so there were 20 (15 girls, 5 boys!) kids ranging in age from 18 years to 4 1/2 months!! We had a BLAST! We got there around 5:15 and were there till quarter to 12am (Mom and Dad came to the Seibels after the party and we drove home together).
Here are some pictures of the evening:

I told him that if he didn't let me get a good picture of him I'd put this one on the blog, so here it is!

Emmy, Natalie & Lily
While the younger girls played dress-up most of the night, us older ones either played ping-pong or cards.

LOVE the pictures!! The one of logan is so funny!! If you don't mind I was going to post some too?
One of your siblings,
Aleks
Those are great! I can't believe you put that one of Emily on! :)
She's gonna love you for that! :) LOL We had an awesome time with you guys! You have to come again soon!
Lydia
Wow. Lot's of pictures of Zack! lol That last one of Logan is SO funny! My cousin (he's 13 now) always did/does stuff like that. lol
Some of the middle pictures didn't show up, but the rest are great!! That first picture of Ike is SOO much like Noah- he hates it when I take his picture!!
And in the goofy picture, he looks like he's doing Mr. Collins' wave in P&P!! :)
You look SOO serious.........deadly.....concentrated in that ping-pong picture, Ali!!!
Anja is SOOOO cute!!!
Logan looks like Seth-- when Esther was a baby and we still lived in PA, we had some friends that had three girls around the ages of Rebecca, Lydia and Seth. Well they would get together and play dress-up and they would always make Seth be a servant girl. They would make him wear a skirt and a apron-- he always looked so miserable in all the pictures!! :)
Oh, I'm sorry the pictures didn't show up! It's so frustrating when that happens!! I hope they show up eventually!
I can't imagine Noah NOT liking the camera! It just doesn't seem like him (of course, that paragraph is dripping with sarcasm!).
Ike was thrilled to know that he looked like Mr. Collins! His response was "you guys (or us girls!) like that movie way too much!"
Well, what can I say - I can get competitive sometimes!!
I can't imagine Seth in a dress! Of course being that he was younger makes it a little more imaginable. When the boys and I were little we'd play wedding, and I was the groom, Zack was the bride and Ike was the Grandmother! It was SO funny!!
Ewww...Ike actually wants to look like Mr. Collins??? That gives me the shivers.....:)
Seth looked totally silly in a dress- especially with black hair that was SO short (like boys should keep their hair- BTW, I was glad to see Ike got a haircut! there were rumors going around that there were 7 Klahn girls...:) I'm just teasing!!!) it was really hysterical!! And Ike would be a great grandmother- so bossy!! No wait, Ali's more bossy then Ike is.........:) Zack the bride?!?! Now those are some pictures I'd like to see!! :)
Noah laughed SO hard the other night when I told him what your Mom said, he'd apparently forgotten since the first time I told him, and he thought it was so funny!! Dad thought it was funny too, and so we all sat there and giggled.
Miss you Ali!!!!
Love, ~Elizabeth
I meant that Ike was NOT thrilled - his response (to your first comment) was "WHAT?! Mr. Collins?! Yuck!". No, that was a typo on my part!!
Sadly, we didn't get pictures of when we'd all dress up! I wish SO badly we did, but Zack probably wouldn't have allowed it! I'd love to see the ones of Seth dressed up like a girl! There was one time Zack put on a dress and a really curly wig and started dancing around and he looked just like Shirley Temple!! It was so funny!
Yes, Ike finally got a hair cut. I was looking at his license picture when it was long, and it looked terrible! He really likes it how it is now (we all do!). I told Ike what you said about being 7 Klahn girls and his response was "No, I was trying to look like a southern-gospel singer"! ;P
I'll just ignore the comment about who is more bossy . . . . ;)
I still laugh really hard every time I think about how Noah is 'special'! My Mom is still mortified that I told you!
Miss you VERY MUCH! Tell your family "hi!".
Love you!
Aliisa
I thought that had to be a typo-- I can't imagine anyone who'd want to be like Mr. Collins--- yuck!!
You all would have looked so funny if you had gotten pictures of you all dressed up!!! Next time you are down here, I'll have to show you the ones we have. I'll also have to show the video of Noah pretending to be an old granny robbing a bank. It is quite hysterical!!! Noah would probably kill me if I did (he could always hire Ike to run me over!!) :) :) :)
Seth was teasing the other day that he was going to grow his hair out really long (like Guy Penrod) and I said YUCK!!! I guess he listened to me because on Sunday he buzzed it really short!!! :)
When is your Ricky Skaggs concert??? Don't wait too long to tell me "the suspension is killing me"!!!!! (hahahaha!!)
I miss you SOOO much!! Tell everybody HI for me!!
Love you, Ali!!
~Elizabeth
I'm anxious to see the video of Noah being a granny! It sounds hilarious! I'll make sure Ike is locked up somewhere for a while, to be sure he doesn't run you over! ;P
Wow, seems like Seth & Ike are a LOT alike! (Guy Penrod was the southern-gospel singer Ike was talking about!) Seth cuts his own hair?! My brothers should do that - then they don't have to bug Mom when they need a haircut!
Hope you aren't dead yet - the concert is this Saturday, and we're all really excited!!
Miss you SO MUCH!!
Love you!
Ali
Noah was absolutely appalled that I would even suggest to show you that video!!! :)
Seth uses the buzzer on his hair, he uses two mirrors (the one at the bottom of the stairs, and the other he takes out of the bathroom vanity!!) and does a really good job. Usually Esther or I will touch up the back after he's finished but sometimes he does it completely by himself.
Noah is really picky about how his hair is cut, he likes it just the right length, so Mom has to do it, he doesn't trust either of us girls!
Oh--- I miss you SOOOOOOO much!! I really want to see you! Lord-willing something will work out sometime!! We'll have to keep praying, we're very experienced at that though!! :)
Love ya,
~Elizabeth
Oh, c'mon Noah, be a sport! "Party pooper, party pooper" (when I was at your house he was quoting George Banks from Father of the Bride II).
Seth sounds like Zack: doesn't really care what his hair looks like, just wants it short. Noah, on the other hand, sounds JUST like Ike! His hair can't be too short, but he doesn't mind if it's too long . . . .;P No, he really likes it shorter vs. longer. Zack has let me cut his hair (brave guy!) but Ike wouldn't even consider it!
I think this is the most comments I've ever had on a post on our family blog! This is cool - a note from you every time I check the blog!
Miss you, and praying DESPERATELY for a visit! I still can't believe we went a whole year without seeing each other! I'm not sure how I survived!
Love you,
Ali
That is one way that Seth and Ike are different- they are picky about their hair!! I remember thinking that Noah was just like Ike in that way- he wants his hair just so!!!
Last night we got 5 inches of snow. This morning I worked at Droge's and just before Dad was going to take me there, Noah called (he was on his way to work) and said that he was in the ditch about 3 miles from our house. Dad and I went to get him and when we came over the hill where he was supposed to be- my heart just stopped!!! It was a steep ditch and he had gone in the ditch and gone about 25 yards before his car slid and then facing the road, smashed into the edge of ditch!! He went over a whole bunch of little cedar trees, just about took out a fence and then ended up in a thicket of small trees. I was so frightened!! Dad and I were really afraid that he was hurt, but he said he was fine. Our whole road had been cleared except that tiny stretch where he went off the road. He couldn't see that the road was drifted over until he popped over the hill and was right on it. He braked to slow down (he was going about 45mph, he thinks) and came loose and slid out of control!!
I'm so relieved that he was okay. The front of his car is a little smashed up, but I don't think it's totaled. He said he was fine, and he went to work like usual. He was wearing his seatbelt which certainly saved him from further injury!!
It reminded me to pray regularly for the guys' safety on the roads, I always do when they are driving late at night or on a long trip, but anything can happen on just a short commute. I remember after Seth when in his wreck that I prayed every day for him and Dad for a couple months, but then I stopped and only prayed about in a few times a month. I don't ever want to take forgranted God's hand of protection over us when we're on the road!! I'm so grateful he took care of Noah this morning and that he takes care of the guys all the time!!
Well, gotta run!!
I know- I'm praying for a visit whenever God works it out!!!
Lots of Love,
~Elizabeth
P.S. Wow, this almost an email!!! I didn't realize it was going to be such a long comment!! :) :(
Oh my goodness!!!! I am SO glad Noah is ok!! That must've been scary! I remember when Dad spun out last winter, and actually tipped the truck over! (well, onto it's side) Good thing he was wearing his seatbelt! When Dad's truck tipped, he was hanging by his seatbelt, otherwise he would've gotten thrown against the window and undoubtedly gotten hurt.
I remember that accident of Seth's! That was terrible! It's so true - the times when you least expect it are usually when you'd never think anything could happen! It usually takes Dad 15 minutes (at the most) to get to work, and look what happened!
Last night as I was drifting off to sleep I was prompted to pray for your family members individually - now I know why!!
I miss you SO MUCH!! Tell your family "hi" for me! And tell my "other brother who I really miss right now" (there, how is that for sweet?!) I'm glad he's okay!
Love you,
Aliisa
